Message from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Radiology at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, a major teaching affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. We are an academic radiology department practicing in a major urban center. Our mission is to train well-rounded, compassionate and bright residents and students by exposing them through a gradual supervised and rich clinical, academic and scholarly experience. The strength of our program is centered on recruiting exceptional residents and dedicated faculty. We practice mission-based radiology in the diverse, yet underserved communities of the inner city while at the same time involving our residents as world citizens in global radiology collaboration.
As part of our involvement in institutional citizenship, our residents are active participants and leaders in various hospital-driven committees and workgroups. The educational journey is enhanced by nurturing our residents as teachers; that is, they are pro-actively involved in teaching medical students and students in the allied health fields as well as taking the lead in presenting at both multi-disciplinary and department conferences. Scholarly pursuits and research involvement are encouraged, supported and complemented by regularly scheduled journal clubs and our research committee; this facilitates the development of resident-initiated research projects with the goal of publication. Many of our alumni residents state, “once you train at Jacobi, you can work anywhere!” To this I would now add that once you train at Jacobi Medical Center you will be provided with both the aptitude and attitude to make meaningful contributions towards the field of radiology and its sphere of influence on the human condition.
