About the Area
Situated in the Northeast corner of the Bronx, Jacobi Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine are ideally positioned for easy access to and from the entire tri-state area including Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey, Westchester and Connecticut.
New York City, otherwise known as “The Big Apple,” is famous for its music, theatre, arts, clubs, sports, and great food.
Two subway lines to Manhattan are within close walking distance of the medical center, and an express bus to Manhattan’s East Side stops on the corner of the medical center complex.
Because of the medical center’s convenient location, some residents reside in Manhattan while others commute from Queens, and New Jersey.
Many of our housestaff also reside in The Bronx including the Morris Park and Riverdale areas. Several residents live within walking distance of the medical center, in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx. This neighborhood boasts affordable housing in a tree-lined, low-crime area.
The Bronx houses many of New York City’s top attractions including Yankee Stadium, The Bronx Zoo, The New York Botanical Gardens, and a little Italy, with outstanding restaurants and shops. Excellent boating and restaurants are nearby on City Island, which resembles a New England fishing village.
The Falk Athletic Center on the adjoining Einstein campus has a 25-meter swimming pool, indoor running track, free weights and racquetball and squash courts.
